Is this course for me?

Nail Technology is a technical qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed nail technician. This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a nail technician including: providing and maintaining nail enhancements, manicure treatments, health and safety and client care.



This qualification structure provides learners with the flexibility to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required depending upon their designated career pathway as a nail technician.

What will I study?

Anatomy and physiology for hands and feet

Introduction to working in the nail industry

Nail enhancements (clear)

Nail art services

Manicure services

Pedicure services

Light cured gel polish

How long is the course?

One academic year

How will I be assessed?

Three mock exams covering both theory and practical

One Final theory exam and one synoptic practical exam

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 including maths or English.

What can I progress onto?

Level 2 Beauty Therapy

Level 2 Make up

Level 2 Hairdressing

Level 3 Nail technology

Other Information

You will be required to purchase a kit and uniform, this must be brought/worn to college to ensure entry into the salons, compliance with health and safety regulations

You will be required to complete 15 hours work experience

You will be required to engage in employer involvement, trips and visits
