Is this course for me?

Budding bricklayers can build a rewarding career in the construction industry. Our highly-trained expert tutors have a wealth of experience in the trade passing on their skills, knowledge and experience in bricklaying and construction.

What will I study?

This course consists of practical and theoretical study. The programme is offered as a continuation from the Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying. Units: carry out safe working practices in construction, carry out safe working practices in construction, knowledge of information, quantities and communicating with others, knowledge of building methods and construction technology, know how to build cavity walling forming masonry structures, build cavity walling forming masonry structures and a practical assignment.

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is on practical skills, theoretical knowledge and subject assignments. Students also meet regularly with tutors to help plan studies and to discuss progress.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 or equivalent including maths or English.

What can I progress onto?

This can lead to further study at Level 2 Technical in Bricklaying or an apprenticeship if employment is gained. Construction workers can work in the UK or abroad, in a range of industries, or even set up their own business. Experienced Bricklayers can expect to earn up to 40k a year. Site Supervisors from 28k - 40k a year.

16-18 year olds do not pay exam fees.
