Is this course for me?

The T-Level in Legal Services offers a comprehensive introduction to the legal sector, covering both the core components of the business and legal environment, and specialized areas related to criminal justice and social welfare. Students will learn about topics such as the business environment, careers in legal professions, regulation, professionalism and ethics, financial accounting, technology, and project management. More specialised learning will focus on areas like crime, the criminal justice system, courtroom procedures, and welfare law. Core subjects are assessed through two exams, and students will also develop practical skills such as legal research, using legal databases, and drafting legal documents.



Alongside classroom learning, students will complete a 9-week work placement in the legal sector, allowing them to gain practical, hands-on experience. This course equips students for various career paths within the legal profession, with a strong focus on both theoretical knowledge and practical application. To enrol, students need a minimum of five GCSEs, including English and Maths.

How long is the course?

Full time for two academic years.

How will I be assessed?

Through continual assessment using practical observations, written assignments, exams and an employer set project.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-4 or equivalent, including English and Maths

What can I progress onto?

You could work as a:

• Solicitor, providing essential legal advice to clients and acting on their behalf on legal matters. The starting salary for a solicitor is £25,000 per year.

• Barrister, giving advice to solicitors and representing clients in disagreements, investigations and in court. Experienced barristers can earn up to £200,000 per year, starting at £17,500.

• Paralegal, carrying out key research into cases, preparing legal documents and providing legal advice to clients and with the necessary experience you could be earning up to £40,000 per year.
