Is this course for me?

If you are interested in the construction industry, an exciting and rewarding career in joinery may be just for you. You will gain the skills to become sought after craftspeople with excellent employment prospects. Hands-on experience, under the supervision of industry and education professionals, will equip you with the skills to succeed.

What will I study?

This course consists of practical and theoretical study for two to three days per week. The programme is offered as a continuation from the Level 1 Diploma. You will cover all aspects of joinery including carrying out safe working practices in construction, information, quantities and communicating with others, building methods and construction technology, carry out first fixing operations, erect structural carcassing and set up and operate a circular saw.

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is through practical skills and the underpinning knowledge, including short tests and subject assignments.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 or equivalent including maths or English.

What can I progress onto?

Students can progress onto a joinery apprenticeship or the Level 3 Diploma in Joinery. Experienced Joiners can expect to earn over 30K a year.

16-18 year olds do not pay exam fees.
