The occupation covered by this standard is Construction Quantity Surveying Technician. Construction Quantity Surveying Technicians are associated with the monitoring and control of costs and contracts on construction projects and are based on sites or in offices. The main duties and tasks of a Construction Surveying Technician are assisting senior managers with the budgeting of construction project, control of costs during a construction project, selection and management of specialist contractor, to contribute to the mitigation of disputes using accurate records, recording, control and reporting of income and expenditure on a construction project, valuation of progress on construction projects and to assist senior managers with the legal and contractual issues on a construction project.

What will I study?

For the first two academic years you will study a HNC Quantity Surveying for England qualification alongside maintaining a portfolio of evidence. In this apprenticeship you will be learning the knowledge, skills and behaviours to be successful in your chosen role, as indicated within the apprenticeship standard.

How long is the course?

36 months

How will I be assessed?

The HNC will be assessed through written assignments and coursework. The End Point Assessment will comprise of an online test, project, and a professional discussion.

What qualifications do I need?

A relevant STEM Level 3 qualification. Mature apprentices with experience, a portfolio of work and employer references will be considered. All apprentices must possess a Grade 4 or above in Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent.

What can I progress onto?

This Apprenticeship will include the knowledge, skills and behaviours typically required to achieve Technician status or the equivalent with the industry's recognised professional bodies and provides progression to higher and degree level apprenticeships.
