Is this course for me?

This course is for any budding Electricians, who want to gain a recognised qualification, and experience that will aid them in becoming a competent Electrician. The typical electrical student Is a confident, intelligent, practically minded individual, with a capacity to apply maths, Science and logic in their approach to problem solving. Who, after gaining 4 or above in English Maths and Science at school, or completing a level 1 technical qualification in electrical installation, want to gain further recognised qualifications, and experience that will aid them in becoming a competent Electrician.

What will I study?

This course has been designed to develop the skills nesessary to persue a career in the electrotechnical industry. You will cover the following areas.: Principles of Electrical Science, Electrical Installation Technologies, Installation of wiring systems and enclosures, Health and Safety in Building Services Engineering, Communicating with others in Building Services Engineering

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year

How will I be assessed?

2 exams and 1 practical assessment at key points of the year.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-4 or equivalent including maths, science and/or the Electrical Installation Level 1 qualification.

What can I progress onto?

Progression onto a range of qualifications including City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma In Electrical Installation, 5357 Electrical Apprenticeship, 2382 18th Edition qualification, 2396 City and Guilds Level 4 Design, Erection and Verification, 2377 Portable Appliance Testing, HNC in building Services, University Degree, Masters Degree, Chartered Engineer.

16-18 year olds do not pay exam fees.
