Is this course for me?

If you have a passion for practical outdoors lifestyles and love to learn about plants and how things grow, a Horticulture course could be for you. We focus on developing your skills and knowledge to gain employment in this expanding industry. You will learn about garden maintenance and design, plant propagation and sustainable horticulture.

What will I study?

Aimed to provide an exciting insight into this rewarding industry, students will study basic skills, health and safety and personal and social development. The horticulture skills will include tool maintenance, propagation, plant identification and garden maintenance.

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year

How will I be assessed?

Continuous practical and written assessment.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-2 or equivalent. Level 1 Diploma in Practical Horticulture

What can I progress onto?

Successful completion could lead to a Level 2 in Land based studies Horticulture. Career Prospects include Head Gardener with salary earnings of up to £27-36k, Landscape Designer, Horticulture Manager, Groundwork Maintenance and Plant Production. Over 2,000 landscape gardeners are currently employed in the region.
