Is this course for me?

The Level two in Health & Social Care Professionals programme is designed to prepare you to progress onto a Level 3 T Level in Health on one of the three pathways; Adult Nursing, Mental Health Nursing or Healthcare Professions.

What will I study?

ou will cover units that include the core values of the Healthcare system, look at the diverse needs of service users, study Human Lifespan development and understand human biology. The qualification is designed so that whichever pathway you chose at Level 3 you will feel that you are qualified and ready to study at this level. You will also study GCSE English, Maths and Biology (if required). You will undertake a work placement of at least 15 days over the year as two rotations with local health employers.

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year

How will I be assessed?

There are two externally assessed exams, written course work, presentations and competency based assessment in placement.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-3 including Maths or English.

What can I progress onto?

You may progress to the T Level Health route and then onto university and choose from a range of degrees in in health sector subjects, to a degree apprenticeship or relevant employment. The NHS needs to recruit 190,000 more staff by 2027 to meet thedemands of a growing and ageing population. Around 29,000 nurses are employed in the region, and this number is expected to increase over the coming years. Mental heath nursing is practiced in a number of settings including the community or in hospitals or secure environments such as prisons. Job roles include Mental Health Nurse, Counsellor, Psychologist and Substance misuse recovery worker.

Other Information

You will receive support from a competent, approachable team of staff, who have experience in the early years and child care sector. You will learn about values, interpersonal skills and the care needs required for working in the sector. You will require a satisfactory DBS clearance. 16-18 year olds do not pay exam fees.
