What will I study?

Studying AS/A Level Mathematics will help you to develop a logical approach to problem-solving, as well as your mathematical knowledge and skills. You will study three areas: Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Mechanics.

Understanding Mathematics and its processes will help to increase confidence, foster enjoyment and provide a strong foundation for further study. You will learn how to apply mathematics in other fields of study and be aware of the relevance of it to the world of work and in society.

How long is the course?

Full-time for two academic years.

How will I be assessed?

Through a combination of exams.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-5 including English and 2 GCSE subjects graded 9-6 including Maths.

What can I progress onto?

You may progress to study at a Russell group university for a degree in a related subject.

Other Information

As part of your Academic Development Day you'll take masterclasses with industry experts, such as Ford France and BAE Systems. You can test yourself at UKMT Senior Mathematics Challenge.

Plus you can benefit from the University of Manchester support sessions and the college's Mathematics lunchtime club.
