Is this course for me?

Assessment methods include an externally set and assessed on-screen multiple choice examination for two units.

What will I study?

You will carry out safe working practices in construction, use information, quantities and communicate with others, learn building methods and construction technology, prepare background surfaces and plaster materials, apply plaster materials to internal backgrounds and produce components from moulds. You will progress to learn how to apply plaster materials to external surfaces, fix dry lining and plasterboard products to interiors, form sand and cement screeds, produce plaster components, apply plaster materials to internal surfaces, position and secure fibrous plaster components and take a practical assessment.

How long is the course?

Full time for one academic year

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is via practical skills and end of unit online tests. There is also an externally set theory test at the end of the course.

What qualifications do I need?

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-2 or equivalent.

What can I progress onto?

You can progress onto a full time Level 2 Technical in Plastering, Construction or gain employment through an apprenticeship.

Other Information

You will need a basic kit, overalls and safety boots. You will be supported by experienced and enthusiastic tutors who are all trade qualified who will help you achieve your goal.
