Our Construction department scooped
an award which recognised them as the best College in the North region for
excellence in plastering.
Lecturer, Michael Simm and Plastering Assessor, Ramon Hawley attended the National and Regional College Awards hosted by the The Worshipful Company of Plaisterers at the Plaisterers Hall in London.
The company is one of the ancient Livery Companies of the City of London. They recognise the highest standards of achievement in training for UK plastering and drylining and encourage excellence in all aspects of plastering.
The department based at the Centre of Excellence in Engineering at Pagefield, won the regional certificate based on its percentage of students achieving NVQ/SVQ Level 2 and 3 Diploma combined.
Lecturer in Plastering , Michael Simm said: “It is fantastic to receive an award for the hard work that is put in to helping our students go into the industry equipped to cope with high standards not just for themselves but for their peers around them.”
It’s the second occasion that the College has received an award from the Plaisterers Guild and reflects the industry specific training environment at Pagefield which caters for all aspects of the trade.
Head of Construction, Neil Campbell added: “Our Plastering department has over 70 years plus of experience, offering expert teaching to learners coming into the industry and we are delighted to be acknowledged as the best in the north for the training we provide.”
The College’s next open evening is Monday 28th January from 4:30pm where visitors can view the state-of-the-art facilities on offer at the Centre of Excellence in Engineering and speak to staff to get advice and course information.
