Two ex-Wigan & Leigh College students were involved in the planning and development of the College’s new website. Manchester based company I-COM recently won the project to create the new look online presence, which was in place for the start of the New Year.
The digital brand development agency is currently working on developing Leigh College’s brand new website which is due to launch in spring.
Former student Ravi Bhalla is the Founder and Technical Director of the company which was established in 2004.
He completed A Levels in Maths, Business Studies and Computer Science at the College’s Parsons Walk Centre and is now making a big success of running the digital agency.
After winning the contract to work on the websites, Ravi said: “It's always great to win new business, but my history with Wigan & Leigh College made this even more special. When I was a student I don't think there was even a college website, so it certainly shows how far things have come along since then.
“We have been working hard to understand exactly what the College needs from its website and how we could best address any issues. I'm pleased to say that we have now created a flexible system that provides a rich experience that can satisfy today's generation of students’ wants and needs.”
The new look website has features including; a responsive framework to allow for enhanced viewing on mobile and tablet devices, intuitive course listings and dedicated sections showcasing the College’s Centres of Excellence.
Another former student, Jamal Atcha (SEO Consultant) who studied at Leigh College also works at the company after achieving his A Levels.
Ravi added: “It has been a real pleasure working on this project with my fellow Wigan & Leigh alumni and we are all proud to see the new site now it's live.”
Communication between the College and I-COM was very effective and the team was on hand to respond quickly to any queries and gave expert advice throughout the development phase.
Head of Project
Management for I-COM, Mark Webster added: “Following
initial meetings with the college, our brief was to produce a website,
modern in design, with features to help support and showcase the fantastic
opportunities and talent within the college.
“Delivering the online presence for Wigan & Leigh College was a great privilege and hearing the positive feedback from staff and students alike, a great success.”
