Hair
and Beauty students from the College’s Image Centre showcased
their work from the past year at an event to raise money for the Synovial
Sarcoma Charity.
The rare cancer mainly affects young adults and develops in cells around joints and tendons.
The event held at the Gateway Conference Centre at Parsons Walk, was an opportunity for the level one, two and three hair students, plus level two hair and media students to showcase some of their work from the past year.
£525 was raised and all proceeds from the fundraiser went towards research into the rare disease.
A raffle was held as part of the occasion including a prize worth over £300 made up of luxury hair and beauty products.
There was lots of creative and imaginative work with some classic styles that received warm praise from the attendees.
The event was also an opportunity for employers, friends and family to celebrate the students’ achievements and see the high standard of work produced.
Three Student of the Year Awards were also given out on the evening. Michala Fisher won the Level 3 trophy, Mandy Latham won Level 2 and Victoria Hardman, who has just secured a job at Nicky Clarke in Manchester, won the Level 1award.
