Patrick Cameron celebrity stylist and Wella Ambassador returned to Wigan & Leigh College on Monday 20th November to officially open the new Image Centre Salon.
The Image Centre, has expanded its existing facilities to now include a brand new training salon for the College, which is Wella approved and provides students with a real live salon environment. Supported by amazing tutors the students who study hairdressing with Wigan & Leigh College will be presented with every opportunity to develop an outstanding future in hairdressing.
Patrick, known for his vintage hair styles, talked to the current students and offered advice in order to best position themselves to have a career in hairdressing. He was delighted to be back in Wigan and to see the development of the new salon as his relationship with the College began in 2014.
Patrick started out as a window dresser in New Zealand dressing mannequins and was interested in styling their hair so approached a hairstylist locally they loved his passion and offered him an apprenticeship and 40 years later he is the expert in long hair.
Patrick commented “Hairdressing is like any industry, we must invest in our future trades and industry to secure the very best skills for the young people who are the future. The difference with hairdressing is it’s the best career in the world!”
Anna Dawe, Principal at Wigan & Leigh College, added “We are delighted that Patrick could officially open our brand new facility. As a College we are passionate about creating outstanding futures and creating a learning environment that’s aligned to the real world of work. We aim to offer much more than just a course, and the partnership of expert tutors, local and national employers and outstanding facilities gives our students a real head start and makes our students stand out."
