Leigh College is primed and ready to unveil its brand new hair and beauty facility. It is welcoming its first students on the 3rd September and shortly after clients will be able to also enjoy the salons, including new treatments.
The new Leigh College facility is part of a welcome expansion of courses and provision at the site on Leigh Sports Village and has contributed to the growth in student enrolments for 2018/19.
The students will benefit from working in and beauty salons which also provide the right commercial environment to fully prepare them for the world of work. The centre is an accredited Wella Centre of Excellence and will use industry appraised products such as Dermalogica giving students the cutting edge when it comes to leaving college and moving into employment or apprenticeships.
The new facilities will also enable students to work across multi-disciplines including holistic and complementary therapies linked to health care and sports science and theatrical make-up for the media and arts sector.
Principal of Leigh College, Anna Dawe, said: “The development of this facility will ensure that all our students are fully prepared for the changing nature of the industry.
“It will allow them to take full advantage of the wider job opportunities that are becoming available in the well-being and health sector as well as in areas such as creative arts.
“The delivery of technical education is changing and this ensures that our students are at the forefront of these new developments.”
The tutors are specialists, with outstanding industrial experience, which combined with the new resources means that all levels can be offered including study at level 4 with courses such as Advanced Hairdressing Techniques.
