It’s the start of a new term. Whether you are a returning student or a new student coming into college we want to let you know about your Careers Team and how we can support you.
The Career Coaches are based on each of our different sites and are here to support you on your journey towards a career. Take time to check out where your Career Coach is based. If you would like to speak to one of us just pop into the FAB Futures areas.
If we are not free we will be
happy to arrange an appointment for you.
As well as offering face to face appointments, we can offer a virtual
appointment via Teams or the phone.
As you progress through your time in college we can help in a number of ways including: career planning, progression options, information on apprenticeships, job search, creating and updating CVs and cover letters, completing application forms, networking using social media, student finance advice and course funding, signposting to other agencies and applying to higher education.
We also have a number of useful resources. Take a look at the VLE. Our FAB Futures section has loads of useful information that you can access. In addition, you will see a tile on the VLE for a programme called Career Coach. This is a really useful programme where you can browse or search for careers and courses that interest you. It will provide relevant data on wages, employment and the training you need.
Not sure about your career path? You can take a career assessment to learn
about yourself and to gain career suggestions based on your interests. These are great tools to use in preparation
for your careers guidance interview when we can help you to focus on your
career plan.
You are also
likely to see us in tutorials as we deliver a variety of talks throughout the
year on topics such as UCAS, student finance, and career related topics. We often bring in local employers to help to
explore career areas and each year try to organise a Careers Fair as well as
promoting a range of activities during National Careers Week and National
Apprenticeship Week.

Start/Right Choice
Concerned
that you may have chosen the wrong course? Don’t worry there’s no reason to
panic. Arrange to speak to one of the Career
Coaches and we can talk you through what your options are and help you to find
a solution.
We aim to
make contact with as many of our learners as possible and offer individual
careers interviews but if you have questions or concerns about your future
plans you can contact us at any time. You
could drop us a message in Teams, send an e-mail or pop in and see us.
