“The Careers Fair has worked really well, we’ve had some really good questions and interest from the Wigan & Leigh College students. We have been really interested to hear what they are learning here at College and how they can bring that forward within Network Rail and the careers we can offer them. It’s been very beneficial for us to come in today to showcase who Network Rail are, what we do and what we can offer as well as give out careers advice.”

“I think the links with this college particularly are really important as it is engineering based and not everybody does that and I hope Rolls-Royce continue to have this link. The students have been really engaging and actually, nearly everyone has spoken to us and been very interested in what we do so it’s been brilliant. I think the Careers Fair has been extremely well organised. There’s been a good mixture of people. I think getting the word out about engineering and for us to promote higher apprenticeships is really important. The fact that this college supports that then we are very well interlinked to that.”

I have been surprised how many students already know where they want to go and what they want to be. There’s been quite a few students that if we had been recruiting this year, I would have said come to an interview without doubt. I even gave out my business card to tell one student to contact me for next year.”

“It was fantastic to see so many of the learners engaged and ready to ask questions about the opportunities on offer to them. Many of them seemed interested in perusing the apprenticeship route which was great to see as Atkins also recognises this route as an important and extremely credible start to a career.”

“Lucy’s college experience helped to affirm her career aspiration to become a primary school teacher. She was well supported by the FAB futures team through tutorial and 1:1 careers meetings to complete her university application, develop her personal statement and also to apply for her university finance. Lucy is now making good, independent decisions at Edge Hill University and really enjoying her time.”
